Account Documentation Checklist

Opening a new business account isn't necessarily complicated, but it can feel tedious. To ensure your opening process is seamless, be sure you review this checklist for all necessary information and documentation needed. Once ready, you conveniently open your business account online or by phone.

Financial institutions are required to identify all individuals who, directly or indirectly, own 25% or more of the equity interest of the business. Therefore, you will need the following information for all owners who own 25% or more of the business' equity, even if they will not be signers on the account.

  • Full Legal Name
  • Percentage of Ownership
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Valid Driver’s License Number/ID with an Issue and Expiration Dates
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address

View your business type for the additional documents and information needed for a new account to be open for your business.


  • Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security Number of Sole Proprietor
  • Fictitious Name verified through FL Secretary of State website ( unless the following:
           You are using your full legal name in the Business Name. For
           example, if the owner’s name is Eugene Smith and the business
           name is Smith’s Jewelers, you will need to be registered. However, if
           the business name is Eugene Smith Jewelers you will not.
